In tribute to Paul Doughty

Doughty copy.jpgPaul Doughty, a distinguished fellow of SfAA and a recipient of the Society's Malinowski Award, has been an applied anthropologist for more than sixty-five years. He has been a pioneer in the field and active in promoting applied anthropology.

In response to a query about Paul's health, his son Tom reports that Paul's physical health and memory have declined. In tribute, a group of his friends have decided to donate to the Scholarship Program of The Chijnaya Foundation who will establish a scholarship in his honor and in memory of his wife Polly.

The Chijnaya Foundation supports university and technical institute education for youths from rural communities on the Peruvian Altiplano. For more information about the scholarship program, visit their website at www.chijnayafoundation.org or contact the Foundation's Executive Director at makensie@chijnata.org

This honor will be conveyed to Paul including a list of contributors. In a good moment, he may be able to understand this gesture, especially if accompanied by his beloved huayno music.

On behalf of Paul's friends, Ralph Bolton
