Sol Tax Distinguished Service Award

Sol Tax Rocker.pngThose who learn about Applied Anthropology in their classes usually here about Sol Tax.  Teaching at the University of Chicago, as early as the late 50s, he taught his students to apply anthropology and to learn and serve in equal measure.  During his career, he provided distinguished and innovative service to applied anthropology and to anthropological societies. The Sol Tax Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to a member of SfAA in recognition of long-term and truly distinguished service to the Society.

If you feel that someone who has taught you, worked with you, mentored you is worthy of this honor, please nominate them. The Sol Tax Award Committee receives nominations, which include a letter of support and an updated CV, during the summer months.  We encourage members of the SfAA to nominate individuals who are deserving of this award.  Please send inquiries to committee chair Jeanne Simonelli at simonejm@wfu.edu   Send full nominations to the SfAA office at info@appliedanthro.org

These are difficult times.  Let’s honor those who serve in spite of them.
