American University of Iraq

The Center for Gender and Development Studies at the American University of Iraq is pleased to be an institutional member of SfAA as of October 2020. One of our areas of emphasis is academic scholarship, in which we are very active. Our scholarship focuses on women and other marginalized groups, especially people with disabilities, and always intends to increase awareness and contribute to systemic change. Our current projects include gender equity in the MENA region through education (funded by the European Union), masculinities in Kurdistan (funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund), and combating inequity and GBV in Iraq (funded by the United Nations Population Fund).
