Call for Sol Tax Award Nominations

Sol Tax Rocker.pngIn 1998, the Society for Applied Anthropology’s established an award in the name of Sol Tax, the prominent anthropologist best known as the founder of action anthropology. Beginning in 2002, the Sol Tax Distinguished Service Award has been presented annually to a member of SfAA in recognition of long-term and truly distinguished service to the society.

Nominees should have made long-term and exceptional contributions in one or more of the following areas: 

1.     leadership in organizational structure, activities, and policy development;

2.     central roles in communication with other disciplines or subdisciplines;

3.     editing and publishing;

4.     development of curricula in applied anthropology;

5.     formulation of ethical standards of practice; and

6.     other innovative activities promoting the goals of SfAA and the field of applied anthropology to the public at large. 

Each nomination should include:

• a nomination letter detailing the distinguished service of the candidate;

• one additional letter of support; and

• a curriculum vita that specifies the nominee's service to the SfAA

Note: copies of publications and additional letters are not needed.

Nominations are valid for five years from the date of submission. The deadline for receipt of all materials is October 1. Please email nominations to: info@appliedanthro.org.
