Our first K-12 Teachers Summer Workshop will bring pre-college educators together to help promote the teaching of anthropology in secondary schools and strengthen networks within K–12 anthropology. The multi-phase hybrid workshop begins in late May and includes a two and half-day in-person event in July. Applications are due May 13.

World on the Move

Our latest exhibit, World on the Move: 250,000 Years of Human Migration, will open at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC on June 18. The Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival on the National Mall will also feature World on the Move related events and activities.

Annual Meeting

The 2022 AAA Annual Meeting will take place this fall in Seattle, WA, and online, November 9-13. This year’s meeting theme, “Unsettling Landscapes,” encourages anthropological discussion of past, present, and future unsettlings of the world.

Open Anthropology Research Repository

Coming Soon — OARR: The Open Anthropology Research Repository will relaunch this summer. The new platform offers an improved submission process with fewer steps and clearer instructions. Materials in any language can be housed in the repository, and multimedia files are now supported. Content will also be indexed using a newly developed taxonomy, improving the search of related materials.

Save the Date

The Department Leaders Summer Institute will take place at Georgetown University, June 22-24. This event will provide department leaders an opportunity to have face-to-face conversations about the various challenges of administering a department and share successful practices for dealing with these challenges.
