Texas State University is now accepting applications for a PhD in Applied Anthropology!

Degree Requirements:

  • 54 hours of coursework including:

  • Classes in theory, statistics, professional ethics, and research techniques (e.g. applied and qualitative methods)

  • Interdisciplinary courses is areas such as technical communication, business, and marketing

  • The possibility of semester or year-long professional internship experiences

  • Completion of a comprehensive exam

  • Successful completion and defense of a dissertation, ideally in concert with internships or previous/ongoing professional employment

Students will complete their degrees within 5 yearsand will be supported through both faculty and professional mentoring.

Funding:The department and university are committed to providing up to 5 yearsof teaching assistant funding per student.

Eligibility:

  • MA degree in anthropology or a closely related field

  • For international students an overall score of 78 on the TOEFL iBT, or a 6.5 overall with minimum individual module scores of 6.0 on the IELTS
